Two paths. One shared way of seeing.
Art taught us to see. People taught us to listen.
BluPoetry is the shared work of Ben Umansky and Shira Keshet—partners in life, creativity, and the belief that meaningful stories do not need to be invented. They need to be recognized.

BluPoetry began in the desert.
Ben and Shira first met at Kibbutz Ketura in southern Israel, where they worked side by side landscaping an oasis. Their first creative collaboration was a music video made with the gap-year community around them.
Then life carried them in different directions.

Seven years later, they found each other again.
They moved to Los Angeles and began combining Ben’s visual-art practice with Shira’s background in education, communication, and community building.

Married in Los Angeles
Eventually, they gave away most of what they owned, packed a car, and spent more than two years traveling through 35 U.S. states.

Creating wherever they went
During that journey, Ben and Shira continued creating wherever they went. They met people inside their homes, businesses, and communities, and discovered how much can be revealed when you arrive with curiosity, listen before directing, and pay attention to the human details others might overlook.
That chapter changed how they understood storytelling. It became the foundation of how BluPoetry works today: discover what is already true, find the emotional center of the story, and make it visible through film.
Where image and meaning meet.
The name itself brings them together.
Blu comes from Ben’s lifelong connection to the color blue. Shira means poetry in Hebrew.
BluPoetry is where image and meaning meet—where visual artistry becomes a way to reveal something honest, human, and difficult to express in words alone.

What each founder brings.

Ben Umansky
Filmmaker · Director · Visual Artist
Ben is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, director, editor, photographer, and visual artist trained in Screen-Based Arts at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. His work spans brand films, music, dance, visual art, and mission-driven projects. He sees story in light, movement, rhythm, sound, and the unexpected visual detail that reveals something larger.

Shira Keshet
Creative Producer · Communicator · Educator
Shira is a creative producer, communicator, and educator with more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, project management, experiential education, international delegations, and group facilitation. She brings the questions, structure, and warmth that help people feel safe, understood, and fully themselves—before and during the camera.
Together, they bridge human connection and cinematic craft.
They do not force people into scripts or ask a business to sound like everyone else. They discover what is true, human, and distinctive; find the emotional spine of the story; and shape it into a film people can feel, trust, and remember.
In 2025, BluPoetry was named Creative Business of the Year by the Superior Chamber of Commerce, recognizing the impact and value of its creative work within the Superior community. BluPoetry’s work has also contributed to multidisciplinary projects recognized beyond the studio, including the 2026 Pinnacle Awards Platinum-winning Wetterau Family Spiritual Care Center at City of Hope Orange County.

Your story is already there.
Today, based in Colorado and working nationwide, Ben and Shira partner with founders, established brands, and mission-driven teams whose real value is difficult to explain.
Their job is not to invent a story. It is to recognize the one already there—and make it visible.
